A Trip with Grandma

When we were on a road trip with grandma I got to get better at taking pictures. Now I am really good at taking pictures.

This is a picture that I took. It is of a long meadow, and it is were the  McKenzie  River starts just as a little spring.

This is a up close picture of a flower that hangs upside down.  I had to put my camera upside down and I didn't know how it was going to turn out. So I think I got really lucky.

This is a Indian paint brush flower. I think it is called that because the Indians used it to make red paint with it or it could be because of the shape.

This is Queen's an Lace. It has lots of little flowers in one big flower.

This is a Butterfly of some sort.  The key to taking a picture of a Butterfly is always be ready  take a picture so when it opens it's wings you can snap it really fast.

This is a flower that is just starting to open up. When it is opens it is going to look kind of like a Indian Paint brush but it is only going to be pink.

Here are some river pictures. The 2nd one has two rivers that are coming together  and the other two are close ups of the river.

Bandon 2010

This is the place we went
My papa took my brother, my mommy and me to the Sixes River. When we were there I learn how to pan for gold. We found a lot of water dogs.  Later that day, we went to the West Coast Game Park. There were a lot of animals that you could hold. We had so much fun! You have to go there some time.

Our Vacation at Bandon

A few months ago, we spent a couple days with Papa in Bandon.
Bandon is where my mom grew up. We stayed in her bedroom, it was very warm.
It was a fun trip. Here are some of the things we did.
This is the Coquille River Lighthouse in Bandon.
These are sea lions and we spotted them and Mommy took a picture.
This is a jellyfish. Moms says it is Polyorchis penicillatus but I don't know how to say it. We also saw a larger jellyfish but it was dead on the beach and looked really yucky so I didn't want to show you the picture. We don't know what kind it was though. This is me when we went crabbing. We only caught one that we could keep but someone gave us two more crabs. This is a fox. One of Papa's friends had trapped it to move it off his farm.

Yosemite National Park

This is a picture of a valley called Yosemite National Park. We went on a vacation there a couple weeks ago. On our last day, a bear walked through our campsite! . I really liked Yosemite and it was very fun.
This picture is of Half Dome. Half Dome is made of one kind of rock called granite.
My brother loves trains a lot. We surprised him with a trip on an old steam engine near Yosemite.
My mom found a butterfly and she put the butterfly on her finger. I put a little water on my finger and let the butterfly climb onto my finger. Then I showed my brother and Daddy. Buddy wanted to have the butterfly on his finger too but it got scared and flew away.
This picture is of the Grizzly tree. It started growing when Cleopatra was ruling in Egypt. This tree was so big that years ago, before Yosemite was a national park, people cut a hole through the tree to drive a car through it. The huge trees here brought attention to the area and many people like John Muir and Galen Clark helped to make it a national treasure.
